Simple Banana & Berry Breakfast Smoothie
Serves: 1–2
Age: 3+ (with adult help for blending)
Ingredients:
- 1 ripe Co-op Fairtrade Banana
- A handful of Co-op berries (strawberries, blueberries or mixed berries – fresh or frozen)
- 150g Co-op natural or Greek yoghurt
- 150 - 200ml Co-op Semi Skimmed milk
- Optional: 1 tsp Co-op Squeezy Honey (for over 1s)
Instructions:
- Ask an adult to help you set up the blender safely on a flat surface.
- Peel the banana and gently break it into small pieces using your hands.
- Wash the berries carefully in a bowl of water. If using strawberries, ask an adult to help remove the green tops.
- Put the banana pieces and berries into the blender.
- Spoon in the yoghurt and pour in the milk slowly.
- If using honey, ask an adult to add it to the blender.
- Put the lid on the blender securely and ask an adult to help you blend.
- Blend until the smoothie looks thick, smooth, and creamy with no big lumps.
- Carefully pour the smoothie into a glass or cup.
- Serve with a straw or special cup and enjoy together.
Tips for Kids
- Let children add the ingredients to the blender.
- Count the berries together for a fun activity.
- Add a straw or tie a ribbon around the glass for Mother’s Day.
Easy Variations
- Thicker smoothie: Add more yoghurt or a few ice cubes
- Sweeter: Add extra banana or honey
