East of England Co-op announces work set to begin at new Woodbridge Road convenience store
The East of England Co-op has announced that work will begin at its new Woodbridge Road food store from Monday 7 April 2025.
The store, situated at the site of the former Renault garage, will replace the East of England Co-op’s current food store on Brunswick Road. Colleagues from the Brunswick Road store will be transferred to the new Food store, which is expected to open in mid-June.
Customers will be able to enjoy a greater range of products, including the East of England Co-op’s popular food-to-go offering. The new larger Woodbridge Road store will be more environmentally sustainable and also have ample parking and electric vehicle charging for customers.
Operating over 120 Food stores across Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire, the East of England Co-op is independent of the national Co-op Group and other regional co-operatives.
Andy Rigby, Acting Chief Executive Officer for the East of England Co-op, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing a brand-new East of England Co-op store to Woodbridge Road, Ipswich.
"This exciting new location will offer an improved shopping experience, featuring a modern, spacious layout and the added convenience of on-site parking. Plus, our fantastic colleagues from the Brunswick Road store will be joining us, ensuring the same friendly service our customers know and love.
"We can’t wait to open our doors and welcome the community to this fresh new space in the coming months.”
The East of England Co-op is owned by its members and is driven by its commitment to supporting local communities. The retailer has donated over £1 million to good causes in East Anglia over the last three years.
